This past weekend Evan and I were honored to photograph the first #KBWedding of 2018 and we could not have kicked off the year with a more perfect wedding than Hannah & Kellen's!
I always get a little nervous when a photographer contacts me to photograph a special moment. Add on a videographer like Kellen, and the pressure is INTENSE! The fact that the forecast called for rain didn't help. And as the week went by, it didn't change. When Saturday came around, I did what I always do...I reached out to my prayer warriors aka family to pray over the day and God heard our prayers! Although it rained off and on, the rain held off just enough for Hannah & Kellen to tie the knot outside!
One of the things I love the most about photographing weddings are the unique approaches that every couple takes to make their day memorable. These two were no different! In fact, Hannah's dad even thought about prepping for wedding day nerves, by taking a sharpie to Kellen's ring finger and writing an "x" so Hannah wouldn't forget which finger to place the ring on. Talk about a dad having his girl's back!
Their wedding was beautiful but one of my most favorite moments captured in a simple picture was Hannah and Kellen worshipping. Gosh...there's nothing like seeing two people love one another and commit to making God the center of their marriage.
Now let's talk reception...it truly was a celebration! From the gorgeous barn, to the old cameras used as decoration, the greenery, and the breakfast for dinner menu which included pancakes and eggs (YUM!), their were so many personal touches. I loved seeing their guests have fun and a unicorn and monkey may or may not have shown up...haha.
Hannah & Kellen made sure they made their day memorable and started their marriage off right by making time for themselves (go ahead!), proving to everyone around them how truly head over heels, madly in love they were with each other.
These two did something I have never seen done...right after their first dance, they enjoyed their first meal...privately! As if that wasn't enough, they ended the night with the last song reserved just for them to enjoy together, alone, before their grand exit!!! Ohhhh myyyy...
Hannah & Kellen thanks for making Evan and I part of your special day and reminding us of the beautiful profound commitment that marriage is. Our prayer is that in the coming days, weeks, months and years that you would both hunger for more of God and that as a result you would learn to love one another deeper.
Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs. Kellen Burgess!!!
